Abstract Currently it has been quite addressed the issue of biodiversity, and several authors have supported the study of parasitic communities. The parasites are significant for various biological aspects of their hosts, involving diet, migration, recruitment and phylogeny they can also be direct indicators of environmental quality. As regards the biome, this is the second largest Brazilian biome, which presents a set of ecosystems existing in Central Brazil. Within this biome is the Tiete River, along with some of its tributaries such as the River Batalha, the basin of the Tietê-Batalha. This has a 12.384km2 drainage area, and the Batalha River, which runs 167 km, is considered one of the most important tributaries of the river Tiete. Because it is a kind well adapted to lentic environments with little oxygen, malabaricus Hoplias is a species caught often in this river. The diversity in your eating habits is also an important point for their study. Therefore, the main objective of this project is to develop a qualitative and quantitative study of the parasites of H. malabaricus on the River Batalha, expanding the knowledge of biodiversity within this aquatic environment of the State of São Paulo, thus contributing to the inventory of global biodiversity. | |
