Abstract

The research seeks to comprehend how marajoara civilization was revised in the first half of the twentieth century. For this purpose, we will seek the work of the couple Theodoro Braga and Maria Hirsch da Silva Braga, a couple of artists that dedicate great part of their lives to prepare and publicize elements on the visual, graphic arts and architecture. The reason that makes this research relevant is the preoccupation to investigate not only the trajectory of Theodoro Braga, as has been happening in recent years, but, the participation of Maria Hirsch on it. Thus, efforts are made to not only identify these presences, but above all, to understand the importance and the role assigned to the Braga couple to Marajoara's debate, seen as a contribution to the recovering of the Brazilian ethos.
