Abstract

Considering the lack of studies on the quality of the urban environment, especially in small and midsize cities in coastal areas in Brazil, and the need to conduct research that relate to environmental quality necessary for the development of human life, it was proposed the study of urban climate of the city of Ubatuba-SP. Thus, the intention of the internship on COSTEL laboratory (Climat et Occupation du Sol pair télédétection) at Rennes University 2/France, is to understand the set of methodological procedures developed for the study on modeling the urban heat island, for the purpose of analyzing the air temperature considering the surface characteristics (land use, vegetation, topography), by use the remote sensing techniques. The development research will be in practice-applied phase and theoretical and methodological order. The phases will be conducted concurrently and supervised manner, following an evaluation of procedures, techniques, approaches and activities that best fit the goals and contexts of regular research in Brazil. The knowledge obtained from this contribution extends the possibilities of interventions, because the modeling provides grants that can actually assist in policies that aims to contribute to the mitigation of urban heat islands, prospects already presented in regular research.
