Abstract

The detection of a peak in the correlation function of galaxies mapped by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey project is an indirect evidence of baryonic acoustic oscillation phenomenon: fluctuations in the distribution of visible matter. This master's project aims to study the origin of this phenomenon by examining the formation of large-scale structures and the main consequences of this discovery: the establishment of a standard ruler for astronomical measurements and a new source of data for matter density estimates and analysis accelerated expansion.
