Abstract
Currently asthma has a high prevalence and a high economic and social cost. In this context, several experimental models have been proposed, aiming to advance knowledge about the pathophysiological processes of asthma, as well as the discovery of new therapeutic options. Therapy with Low Power Laser (LBP) is a relatively new effective therapy , with very low cost and no side effects. In this project we aim to study some parameters in animals with asthma undergoing therapy with LBP. To achieve that, BALB/c male mice were divided into 6 experimental groups: (control, n = 20; LBP, n = 20; HDM, n = 20; and HDM + LLL (1J, 3J, 5J and 7,5J; n = 20/group). The protocol used for the induction of asthma will be administered HDM intranasally (on days 0, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42). Laser therapy is applied before challenge with HDM. Twenty-four hours after the last HDM challenge and laser irradiation, animals will be anesthetized, tracheotomized, cannulated and bronchoalveolar lavage collected for analysis of total and differential counting of cells and the release of cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, IL-10 e IL-13). We will also evaluate the participation of the transcription factors STAT6 and GATA3 (intact and phosphorylated), and the evaluation of T cells and eosinophils by flow citometry and lung mechanics will be performed.
