Abstract

This study will evaluate the peri-implant bone healing in rats submitted to ovariectomy and treated with strontium ranelate (625mg / kg / day) or OPG-Fc (10 mg / kg / 2 times per week). Eighty rats, 300 g, will be divided into six experimental groups according to the osteoporosis treatment: SHAM / SAL; OVX / SAL; OVX / RE; SHAM / SH; OVX / SH; OVX / OPG-Fc. Each animal will receive two implants on each tibia metaphysis. Euthanasia will be at 42 and 60 days after implants placement. The three-dimensional microtomography will be performed (micro CT), biomechanical (reverse torque) histometric, confocal laser microscopy, analysis of gene expression by real-time PCR, histological and immunohistochemical of proteins that characterize the bone remodeling process (OPG, osteocalcin, RANKL, TRAP) and Wnt pathway. Quantitative data will be submitted to statistical normality and homoscedasticity tests, applied a parametric or nonparametric test. For all data will be regarded 5% significance level.
