Abstract

Vochysia divergens Pohl (Vochysiaceae) is a native species from the Pantanal biome, popularly known as "Cambará". Vochysia divergens compose the list of species selected for study within the research project "Bioactive compounds from medicinal and food plants of the Cerrado and Pantanal and their endophytic microbiota." Grant # 2011/00631-5. This direct PhD project intents to investigate the chemical profile by HPLC-DAD-MS stems of V. divergens. Additionally, in vitro schistosomicidal, acetylcholinesterase inhibition and antioxidant assays will be held evaluating the biological potential of isolated compounds. The schistosomicidal test will be held evaluating the life cycle of Schistosoma mansoni vector. The analytical methodologies to be used to stem crude extract of V. divergens will employ chromatography (CC, PTLC and HPLC-DAD). The chemical structure of the isolated compounds will the assign on the bases of 1D and 2D NMR experiments. Thus, the main goal of this proposal will be to investigate the metabolic profile of the stem V. divergens as well as to identify potential schistossomicidal, acetylcholinesterase inhibitors and antioxidant natural compounds. This project also aims to contribute to the training of human resources in the area of natural products in the São Paulo State and consolidate the research line that this project is inserted. (AU)
