Abstract

This research derives from the FAPESP Nº 2015/10471-6 project, which aims to analyse the strategies of use of Brazilian territory by the BrasilAgro company. It is the first Brazilian company connected to the agricultural production traded on the stock market - São Paulo and New York. The beginning of the XXI century was marked by the agricultural commodities "boom" and for the 2008 financial crisis. Such situation resulted on a real "race for land" of global proportions (Africa, Asia, and Latin America) in special, by interest bearing capital. Due to this, uncountable debates emerged between civil society's representatives (social movements, NGOs) and academic institutions regarding the phenomenon known as land grabbing. Thus, this research internship aims to emphasize the theoretical study of this recent global phenomenon and its relationship with the interest bearing capital and the land market. In order to do so an extensive literature search, text reading and research group and colloquia participation will be performed in the Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany. The referred academic institution has been promoting important debates and publications about the topic by means of its teachers, such as: Stefan Ouma, Philippe Kersting and other researchers.
