Abstract

The aim of this project is to develop reattach activities in heavy ion collisions in the Physics Institute of the University of São Paulo in the field of relativistic heavy-ion collisions. This project will focus on the studies of heavy quark production in particle jets and their interaction with the quark-gluon plasma. Particle jets are originated from parton fragmentation after they are created in hard processes in the initial stages of the collision evolution. In this case, such partons act as external probes to the medium created after the system termalizes. Modifications due to the interaction of those partons with the medium can be studies by comparing jet characteristics in central heavy-ions collisions with the ones observed in p-p collisions. (AU)
