Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effects of meaning produced by the short story "O Pirotécnico Zacarias", de Murilo Rubião, in one of the different publishing media in which the narrative was first published: the selection O Pirotécnico Zacarias, fourth work launched by the author, in 1974. In this sense, it is proposed to carry out not only the intrinsic analysis of the selected text, but, from the concepts of editorial mediation and horizon of reading, examine the way in which the bookish support and the publishing contexts of the written in question also participate in the significance it produces. On a larger key, therefore, it intended to establish connections, albeit briefly, between elements from the history of the book in Brazil, literary theory and studies on Murilo Rubião, from the said story and its placement trajectory.
