Abstract

Increasing urbanization observed in recent decades in Brazilian cities has promoted a decrease also in the previously existing green areas. These areas are nothing more than remaining areas of native vegetation that play a key role both for local people and for the environmental quality of cities. In this context, this study has the general objective to quantify and analyze the forest fragments in Ribeirão River basin Anhumas-Campinas / SP. Work will be performed through studies and surveys in the field in addition to the satellite image use. Thus the present work aims to contribute to the discussion of the importance of maintaining and improving the quality of existing green areas and forest fragments in river basins located in urban areas.
