Abstract

Aeronautical field demands, even more, costs optimization and reducing related to components production subjected to static and dynamic loading, and exposed to hostile environments. Ti-6Al-4V alloy is used in this area due to its mechanical properties. The main objective of this research is to analyze Ti-6Al-4V alloy fatigue behavior subjected to PIII and shot peening. First, metalographic characterization of the samples will be carried out. The specimens will be sanded, polished and submitted to Kroll attack. Then, the samples will be superficially treated by nitrogen implantation through PIII followed by shot peening. For the fatigue behavior study, axial fatigue tests will be carried out. In order to complement the research, microstructural analysis will be made in samples with and without treatment using X-ray diffraction, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and microhardness measurements.
