Even though the entire family is affected, one member, usually the mother, assumes the responsibility of providing care, regardless of technical and emotional prepare. It is up to health professionals conducting the educational process, focusing on knowledge, aiming at the promotion of health and prevention of complications. Objective: To develop and validate an educational digital material, in a comic story form, directed to informal caregivers of children suffering from hydrocephalus. Method: This is a methodological study, which will be held in neurosurgery child clinic of a university hospital. Professionals will be included acting in the institution and meets at least one of the criteria: work in the field of assistance or pediatric neurology; experience in health education area or in construction or evaluation of educational / instructional materials. It will be also included informal caregivers of children suffering from hydrocephalus and are accompanied in outpatient neurosurgery child. Steps will be followed: systematization of the content based on the needs of children identified by caregivers; Creation of illustrations supported by experts; content of the composition, based on scientific literature review and validation by experts and informal caregivers. To perform validation it will be used the content validity index. To assess the relevance / representativeness, the answers may include: 1 (not representative), 2 (requires major revision to be representative), 3 (requires minor revision to be representative) and 4 (representative). The index score is calculated by the sum of agreement of the items that were marked by "3" or "4" by the judges. To verify the validity of new instruments in general, there is a minimum agreement 0,8027,38, it will be used in the present study. It is expected that the educational material is a didactic, simple instrument and free access to be used by caregivers of children with hydrocephalus. (AU)
