Abstract

The goals of the internship are to learn about interdisciplinary approaches based in the relation of the natural and social-human sciences, and to experience strategies to face the complex challenges of agrobiodiversity conservation, sustainable development, and natural resources management in rural areas, developed by research institutions in France. The internship also proposes the exchange of experiences and methods between researchers with the same aims although from different areas, and qualification and training for improvement in data analysis for the doctoral research. Brazil is one of the countries with the largest sociodiversity and this rich cultural knowledge is not static. The Brazilian research is a key role in instrumentalization of this knowledge, and it is crucial to learn new methods and research approaches to articulate local and scientific knowledge. These approaches are based directly in the relationship between natural and social-human sciences and these researches are largely developed in France, especially in the UMR PALOC, in Paris, institution selected for this internship. The ethnobotanical data from the doctoral research will be analyzed with supervision of the researcher Laure Emperaire. All the data are already collected and the analysis will focus on manioc diversity in rural settlements, and issues about management, circulation, maintenance, and uses of manioc landraces, and the relationship among agrobiodiversity conservation and social, political and economic organizations. The scholarship student will observe the research about agrobiodiversity and local heritages developed by researchers from UMR Paloc, and visit Natural Regional Parks to learn about governance of cultural and natural heritages. These activities involve the exchange of experiences about interdisciplinary research and methods to the valuation of heritages related to agrobiodiversity. Some potential courses and seminaries at the MNHN, École de Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), Musée de l`Homme, and AgroParisTech, were previously selected to complement the internship. The schedule for the internship abroad comprises eight months, from February 01 to September 30, 2017. (AU)
