Abstract

The main goal of the project is to treat analytically the dynamics of scalar fields with spatial and temporal dependence, which are called oscillons in the literature. Within this context, theories that present violations of Lorentz and CPT symmetries (charge conjugation, parity and time reversal) will be investigated. This study will be extended to models involving higher derivatives, such as the Lee-Wick model, and we will consider the possibility of solitons in the presence of external sources. We will analyze various aspects of the oscillons dynamics, such as its amplitude, energy, radiation and lifetime. Another property of interest is the configurational entropy of the oscillon, which allows to extract additional information about these classical solutions. A number of arbitrary dimensions and the coupling of these modes to fermions will be considered. In the cosmological context, we intend to study the impact of the violation of the Lorentz and CPT symmetries in the formation of structures after the period of inflation. In condensed matter, we will investigate the consequences of oscillons to the optical and electronic properties of two-dimensional materials based in quantum field theory models, as for the graphene case. Furthermore, we will explore the possible implications of the violation of Lorentz symmetry to these properties. (AU)
