Abstract

Currently the development of paper-based analytical sensors has gained great prominence in analytical chemistry due to its portability, easy operation and low cost and attracting the interest for several applications in forensic, clinical and environmental areas. However, as a recent research area there is much to be done regarding the development of new sensors and combination different detection techniques to enhancing and increase its applications. Hence, this project aims to develop new sensors on paper substrate combining electrochemical and colorimetric detection for remote applications in different areas (forensics, clinical/medical and environmental). It is intended to combine the portability of these techniques with their robustness for a wide range of analytes. Proposed sensors will always be constructed taking into account that the methodology applied will be easily spread, reproducible and cheap, being attractive for field applications requiring low laboratorial infrastructure and no highly trained staff.
