The purpose of this research is to study the relevance of the genre short story in English in Goan literature in India. To better understand these narratives, a brief historiography of the short story genre will be made in Goa, taking into account that it is the result of the relationship between the pre-colonial Indian literary tradition and the literary traditions in Portuguese and English, the latter both in India and in the Goa diaspora in America, Asia and Africa. The research will consider formal aspects of the genre as well as the themes of greater recurrence. Finally he will study some particular manifestations of the genre after a survey of the various collections of stories in circulation today. (AU)
