The formation of technology park in São José do Rio Preto and their role in the regional development

Abstract

In Brazil the technology parks have emerged from the Decade of 1980, thanks to investments and incentives to innovation projects, in addition to the creation of the Brazilian program of technological parks by the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). Initially these incentives aimed at modifying the economic reality of the country through investments in the generation of technologies, but because of the difficulties of implementation of innovation and low number of innovative initiatives in the national territory, the projects of technological parks of the time did not achieved the expected results as the major world center of innovation. However, from the years 2000 new projects of technological parks emerged with broader development objectives (purely technological not) as well as social and economic, due to this fact there was the legal creation of support to the process of innovation, as innovation law (Law 10,973/04), Industrial Technology and policy of foreign trade-PITCE (11,020 Law/04) , the National Program of support for business incubators and technological parks (PNI) in 2009 and the plan Brazil in 2011. This project aims to understand the formation of a technology park and its contribution to regional development, with emphasis on the county of São José do Rio Preto. (AU)
