Abstract

The Health Reform presented to the country the need to minimize the population's health problems and include the new health demands from the social context from that movement was established the Unified Health System. To meet these new social and health demands and reorganize the gateway to the health system was created the Family Health Program now called the Family Health Strategy. This Strategy emerged as a means to advance the construction of new concepts and especially to implement preventative model over the curative model. In this scenario, the health promotion activities is presented as one of the supporting pillars of this new model, aiming at the quality of life of individuals and communities, as well as promoting healthy environments. Also highlights the importance of the work done by nurses in the Family Health Strategy, they are regarded as an essential part for the effective implementation and strengthening of health promotion. This study aims to evaluate the knowledge and health promotion activities practices carried out by nurses of the Family Health Strategy in São Carlos, Brazil. This is a field research, and qualitative approach. This study will be developed in 15 Strategies in São Carlos and the research population will be the nurses of these units.
