Abstract

Purpose: to investigate the number of children who stutter aware of their speech difficulty and the relationship with their chronological age and with stuttering severity. Method: the participants will be 20 preschool children who stutter of both genders from 2 to 6 years old and 11 months, and presenting at least 3% of stuttering-like disfluencies in spontaneous speech. The following procedures will be used: fluency assessment, assessment of the stuttering severity and application of the questionnaire to parents/relatives to assess the child's awareness of his/her stuttering. Analysis of the results: the data analysis will be performed through the use of statistical tests pertinent to the objectives of the study. (AU)
