Abstract

In Buthidae family, the genus Ananteris Thorell 1891, created to accommodate the type species Ananteris balzanii, has a primarily Neotropical distribution, however, due to possible association with other Buthidae genus of the Old World can indicate a Gondwanian pattern of distribution. Since the genus Ananteris Thorell, 1891 was last revised, the number of species described in it has increased and currently has 81 species. In spite of the probable relationship to Isometrus, monophyly and the internal relationship of the Ananteris genus is not resolved, therefore, the objective of this project is to review the species of the genus Ananteris and propose a hypothesis of relationship to the species of the genus by cladistic analysis.
