Abstract

From the second half of the twentieth century, some factors allowed certain changes in the morphological aspects of the alluvial system in the Pantanal North, Mato Grosso, among them are the gradual expansion in occupation, typologies of land use and exploitation of natural resources - above all, agricultural, livestock and, more recently, hydropower production. In doing so, this work aims to analyze the hydromorphodynamic interactions between the socio-environmental processes developed in the Sepotuba river basin and the morphology and hydrodynamics of the river floodplain system in the lower course - in different spatio-temporal scales. The assumptions are based on the Integrated Approach of Landscape elements, incorporating the concept of Connectivity. Therefore, the research will be conducted considering: a) cabinet stages with preliminary and continuous theoretical-conceptual review, systematization and data representation, as well as the results obtained; b) field and laboratory stages for monitoring and determining the hydrodynamic behavior in their interannual cycle, granulometric characteristics of bottom sediments and concentration in suspension and c) spatial circulation patterns associated with the basin physiography with the specificities of its tributaries and main canal. As products will be generated: a) geomorphological compartmentalization of the sectors that constitutes the basin from morphometric parameters; b) mapping and classification of land uses and vegetation cover with indicators of conflicts in land occupation; c) survey of the sediment delivery and morphological aspects and d) identification of features and geomorphic units present in the river-plain flood system associated with its evolution. Better understanding is expected of the hydrodynamic relations between the fluvial system and the hydrogeomorphological processes resulting from appropriation in its river basin.
