Abstract

Originated in a recently concluded doctoral thesis, The Unknown Vygotsky: writings about art (1915-1926), this project aims at taking a larger and more definite step towards bridging the editorial gap that characterizes the circulation of Vygotsky's texts. This time we intend to present translations into Portuguese of 52 texts that, together with the 27 texts previously presented, will encompass the totality of the corpus produced by the author on art available in Russian to date. This material reveals little explored aspects of Vygotsky's production and though, such as: relation to judaism and anti-semitism; reviews of contemporary authors from "high" and "low" literature; relation between literature and historical events; comments on Byelorussian art; reviews of theatrical plays by visiting ensembles, among which there were important representatives of Russian theater. With the translations, followed by critical commentary, we intend to contribute both to Brazilian Slavic studies, especially on Russian culture and literature, as well as to vygotskian studies, particularly in elucidating little known moments of his oeuvre.
