Abstract

The present project aims at the granting of the "Bolsa Estágio de Pesquisa no Exterior" (BEPE), associated to the master's degree project with FAPESP financial support (process in 2016 / 01331-9), Analysis of flammability of textiles of aeronaut uniforms. This study consists of analyzing the physical characteristics of the textile materials used in the fabrication of coat and pantyhose, parts of the uniform of the aeronauts. It is expected to establish the flammability characteristics of the textile materials used in the preparation of the uniforms, to analyze the results against the International and Brazilian regulations pertinent to the subject and to study the temperature limits that the textile materials of the analyzed pieces of clothing support without causing damages Its structure. The samples shall be subjected to physical tests of weight, density, tensile strength, construction, chemical characterization and vertical flame test, which measures the time and the propagation length of the flame after the source has ceased. Thus, in the framework of this BEPE project, the aim is: i) to participate in the 17th World Textile Conference AUTEX 2017 - Textiles - Shaping the Future in Corfu, Greece; ii) to perform a comparison in the methods of the physical analysis of the samples in the Center of Sciences and Textile Technology of the University of Minho (UMINHO - Portugal), validating the results and; iii) participate in the ICNF 2017 - 3rd International Conference on Natural Fibers in Braga, Portugal. This research will involve acquiring knowledge about the behavior of textiles when exposed to flames, leading to new publications and application possibilities (AU)
