The aim of this study is to evaluate the supplementation with calcium salt of palm oil (CSPO) in dairy cows. Four experiments will be conducted. In experiments 1 (Exp. 1), 2 (Exp. 2) the supplementation levels with CSPO will be: T1 = Control (no added CSPO); T2 = 200g/day; T3 = 400 g/day; and T4 = 600 g/day. An additional level (T5 = 800 g/day) will be used in experiment 3 (Ex. 3). In Exp. 1, 40 Jersey × Holstein cows will be used in a randomized block design, during 115 lactation days (1-105 LD). Supplementation effects will be evaluated in all lactation (until 285 LD) on performance and milk composition. Exp. 2 and will be conducted to evaluate the metabolic-hormonal parameters. In Exp. 3, five rumen-cannulated cows (15 LD) will be used in a Latin square design (5 × 5). Ruminal parameters, microbial synthesis and ruminal protozoa number will be measured. Data will be analyzed by SAS 9.4 (PROC MIXED). Significances levels will set at Pd 0.05.
