Abstract

The overall aim of my research internship abroad is to analyze the multilingual terminology (Portuguese-English-French-Italian) in the trade fair sector in order to compile a terminological dictionary to be used by professionals, researchers and students of foreign trade and international relations areas as well as translators. The specific objective of the internship is to receive guidance from the researchers abroad with regard to English, French and Italian terminologies; get to know tools and procedures in Corpus Linguistics for the treatment of the terms and the establishment of equivalences; receive theoretical and practical contributions to the development of the thesis; attend the research group meetings of the researchers abroad; do field research, visiting the major trade fairs in London, Birmingham, Rome, Milan, Bologna, Bolzano, Napoli, Paris, Toulouse, Nantes, Lyon, Nice, Rennes, as well as visiting the Chambers of Commerce in London, Paris and Rome, if possible, to collect important information and materials for the study. Thus the research internship abroad will contribute to the research developed in Brazil, since the overseas universities have recognized excellence in the Translation Studies area and the researchers abroad have extensive experience in the Translation, Terminology and Corpora areas, the pillars of my doctoral research. In addition, the trade fairs visits will provide the collection of valuable information about the terminology used by professionals in the field which are part of the entries of our multilingual dictionary of key terms of the trade fair sector.
