Abstract

The cognitive functions suffer the interference of schooling. Related to language, differences were observed in tasks involving the oral and written comprehension, writing, verbal fluency, repetition and others tasks. The differences in performance on linguistic tasks in normal population, should be considered during the evaluation of the language in individuals with communication disorders. In Brazil, previous studies with tests Beta-86 Modified and in M1-Alpha tests showed that the schooling interferes with the performance of normal population on these tests. The Montreal - Toulouse Battery (Brazilian version) or simple Battery MTL- Br, was created based on those tests. Although this battery have been published with normative data and a complete psychometric study, there is no standards scores for individuals with low educational profile (1-4 years of schooling). OBJECTIVES: To identify the effect of low education on the tasks from MTL-Br battery and obtain data that can be used as clinical parameters in the evaluation of low educational persons with aphasia. MATERIAL AND METHOD: 30 normal individuals with low schooling, from one to four years of study, aged between 19 and 60 years, will be recruited for this study. The individuals with normal cognitive status will be exposed to MTL-B battery r, which will be applied in accordance with the norms and standards published in the instrument. (AU)
