Abstract

Among other works of investigation on the materiallity of literary discourse, developed by the members of the Comunica research group (UFScar), this work aims to identify which new meanings may produce a new edition of the Book of Fantasy, organized in 1940 by Argentinian writers Adolfo Bioy Casares, Jorge Luís Borges and Silvina Ocampo, and then published in Brazil, in 2013, by the Cosac Naify publishing house. The hypothesis is that, when a new edition of the book is conceived, a new imaginary of what is literature and what the role of the printed book is expressed through the new editorial object. Thus, having as methodology the literary discourse analysis (Maingueneau, 2006), it is possible to analyze and connect the many graphic, textual and paratextual aspects of the book, with the objective of understanding how its material formalization shows certain protocols of how the literary discourse functions. The results may lead to new perspectives of research in literary theory and criticism: to look not only at the author, but also at other actors of the publishing process; to look not only at the verbal text, but also at other symbolic systems materialized in the book.
