Abstract The research proposes a comprehensive analysis of the ways in which the state acts in the accountability of military police officers who have been involved in police approaches that have killed a citizen as one of the results, such as the so-called "resistance cars." It is planned to study the state activity in these cases, in the three spheres of action of the criminal justice system and administrative. Through the qualitative methodology known as "multiple case study", it seeks to observe the similarities, differences, articulations, as well as the legal consequences in each of these legal spheres for the victims (or their family), the defendants and the State itself. Access to case files, semi-structured interviews, observations of forensic and administrative practices, and their respective analyzes, related to four selected cases, should provide relevant information and lines of understanding about the way in which the state of São Paulo intervenes In the face of lethal police practices, plausibly authoritarian and undemocratic.
