Dysfunctions of the pelvic floor affect women of all ages, resulting in negative effects on their quality of life and financial loss. The delivery, regardless of the route can be a traumatic factor for pelvic floor, but the physiological mechanism of this change is not fully understood. Objective: To evaluate vaginal symptoms and complaints of urinary incontinence in women 12 to 18 months postpartum. Subjects and Methods: This is a cross-sectional study evaluating 112 women (56 with vaginal delivery and 56 caesareans) who gave birth at the Women's Hospital "Prof. Dr. Jose Aristodemo Pinotti "CAISM / UNICAMP. Women will be selected by recording them in hospital births book in the period of 12- 18 months prior to collection and will be contacted by telephone. Data collection will be carried out by the researcher through this telephone contact in which is explained the objectives of the study and after the woman agree to participate, the researcher will carry out a structured interview and apply them with the questionnaires of symptoms of prolapse and urinary incontinence (ICIQ VS and ICIQ-SF). Information on weight and head circumference of the newborn, held delivery type, anesthesia, performing episiotomies, forceps use and expulsive period of time will be raised from medical records. Data are reported as mean, standard deviation, median and frequencies. The evaluation of variables in those cases will be performed by the Student t test or chi-square and prevalence ratio values and their confidence intervals 95 %%. log-binomial regression will be performed with stepwise variable selection criteria to select the main associated factors (51). The significance level is 5% and the SAS version 9.4 software for Windows. (AU)
