Abstract

The Center for Research in Inflammatory Diseases (CRID-CEPID) investigate the mechanisms and molecules involved in inflammation. In recent years has increased the number of studies involving the concept of resolution in inflammatory response. For a long time believed resolution was a passive process, but today is know that a complex and actively controlled process involving endogenous cells and mediators prevent uncontrolled inflammation, removing neutrophils in apoptosis, and returning the organism to homeostasis. Therefore, understand the mechanisms of resolution and new pro-resolving mediators are very important. In this sense, this work has as main objectives: study the role of methotrexate treatment in the course of inflammatory resolution and investigate the role of pro-resolving mediators in the resolution of the inflammatory response and in the course of the rheumatoid arthritis.
