Abstract The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between the different federative levels in the electoral coordination in Brazil. A better understanding of how the electoral connections between national and subnational levels takes place allows us to improve the understanding of how the Brazilian political system is organized and how the party leaders decisions are actually taken in a multilevel game. In refering to a single Brazilian party system or electoral system, the specialized literature often neglects a fundamental factor, already pointed out by Olavo Brasil de Lima Jr. (1983), which is the fact that in Brazil there are multiple party systems and electoral systems in action. | |
