Abstract

With the emergence, since the 1990s, of public policy programs for family agriculture, as the National Program to Strength Family Agriculture (Pronaf), the Food Acquisition Program (PAA) and the National School Feeding Program PNAE) producers organizations like associations and cooperatives, took on the important role of proposers and recipients of projects that involve variable amounts of resources and demand new management and administration responsibilities. Some organizations are formed with the primary purpose of participating in these programs, but not always an input of public resources act as a unifying element in a group of producers. The challenges go from project management to the difficulties of maintaining a cash flow and the day to day management of people, information and finances. This research project has as main objective to carry out a survey and characterization of family producer organizations in the municipalities comprised by the Regional Development Offices (EDRs) of Jaboticabal, Barretos and Ribeirão Preto, according to the classification of the Coordination of Integral Technical Assistance (CATI). The survey will seek to identify who these organizations are, in what areas they act, in what public policy programs and representative bodies they take part and what difficulties they face.
