Abstract

The specific antibody deficiency to capsular polysaccharide antigens, one of the four most common primary immunodeficiency in children, is defined by the low production of antibodies to antigens as the ones present in encapsulated bacteria. The diagnosis of this disease still lacks accurate information and is currently done with the aid of pneumococcal antibody dosage before and after active immunization, an exam routinely performed by the Clinical Immunology Division of Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) in patients with recurrent infection. The retrospective cross-sectional study will collect clinical and laboratory data from the medical records of approximately 300 patients from the Clinic Immunology Division of UNIFESP who had history of recurrent infections and were evaluated for specific antibody response to polysaccharide antigens between the years of 2014 and 2016, after immunization for Streptococcus pneumoniae as recommended by the Brazilian Society of Pediatricians and the Ministry of Health. Patients who achieved adequate response to immunization will be compared to those who have had an inadequate response. We will consider deficient in production of antibodies, patients with over 4 years old with post immunization concentration lower than 1.3 mcg / ml for more than 50% of the tested serotypes. The database created in Microsoft Excel will be analyzed by SPSS 17.0 program. The study aims to evaluate clinical and laboratory data from patients undergoing analysis of the polysaccharide antigens response, increasing knowledge about the disease. (AU)
