Abstract

The study of emotions has shown significant growth in recent years. Moral emotions are located in one of the categories of emotion and it is understood by a set of physiological changes and/or cognitive processing that present as a consequence of the establishment and maintenance of the integrity of the social and human structures. Based on the existing literature in the area of emotional processes in moral judgment, the present study aims to investigate the influence of different types of emotion regulation strategies on moral judgment. Thus, we intend to reach this objective through an experiment that will use 120 volunteers who will be divided initially into two groups (moral profile). Once divided, the instrument Moral Foundations Vignettes, which contains six moral aspects, will be applied before and after the experimental task of emotional regulation. This division will be made as follows: 120 participants will be divided into four subgroups containing 30 participants in each, being group 1characterized by the use of the emotion reappraisal strategy; Group 2, by the use of the attentional distraction strategy, and groups 3 and 4 by passive visualization. The experimental task consists in the observation, followed by evaluation, of images of known negative valence and high intensity (except for group 4 that will be presented neutral valence pictures) along this task will be placed the electrocardiographic electrodes. The present topic is constantly growing due to its important relevance in the social sphere. In this way, it is intended to contribute to the theoretical enrichment regarding moral judgment and its relation with emotional processing. (AU)
