Abstract

The human prostate is an alobular gland, while the rat prostate is divided into four lobes with also distinct functions and morphological features. Several aspects such as eating habits, infections agents, hormonal variations, physical traumas or urinary reflux can cause prostatic lesions, because changing prostate functions and characteristics can development prostate cancer, which affects a large part of the world's male population. Organophosphorus pesticides, such as dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate (DDVP), may act as endocrine disrupters mimetizing homones and disturbing the organism homeostasis. Many proinflammatory molecules, such as interleukins (1 and 6), TNF± and NFºB may contribute to the cancer development. Therefore, studying the inflammation molecular markers is fundamental to understand the prostatic carcinogenesis process. Thus, the present work has the objective to evaluate the TNF± expression in rats prostates subjected to chemical induction by MNU associated with dichlorvos pesticides. (AU)
