Abstract

A new technology using violet LED light was developed, enabling the realization of dental bleaching only with light, without the use of bleaching gels. Light acts directly on pigment molecules, and may also have an effect on other organic molecules present in the dental structure, interfering with the performance of adhesive restorations. The present study aims to investigate the bond strength of resinous restorations to enamel and dentin, after different bleaching procedures, through the microtension test. One hundred and twenty bovine incisors will be used and divided into four groups (n = 30) according to the bleaching technique used (GI: control, GII: violet LED light, GIII: 35% hydrogen peroxide based bleaching gel and GIV : Whitening gel + violet Led light). After the bleaching procedure, the teeth will be restored, and half of the teeth in each group (n = 15) will be used for analysis on the enamel, and the other half (n = 15) will be prepared and destined for dentin analysis. Half of the crowns of each tooth will be sectioned perpendicular to the interface of union, being obtained four gems of each, and the other half submitted to the thermocycling. After thermocycling, the remaining crowns will be sectioned perpendicular to the bonding interface, yielding four samples. All samples will be submitted to the microtensile test and analyzed for fracture pattern. The data obtained will be subjected to specific statistical tests. (AU)
