Abstract

Several studies have demonstrated that emotional stimulus receive priority processing as attention selection is likely focused on the emotion relevant stimulus dimensions. In depressive disorders, for example, even irrelevant negative stimuli gain prioritized attention selection. The role of emotional information on working memory is associated with a hedonic detector, capable of interpreting and judging an event in terms of its affective content. However, the involvement of the central executive in the emotional stimuli selection is still unclear. In this study we intend initially to investigate the involvement of attention in the visual emotional information processing on working memory, and the effect of induced negative mood on information storage and processing. According to the literature, the storage and decision making are hampered by the negative mood induction.
