Abstract

The Project has proposed to study the bibliographic collection of the Museum of Companhia Paulista in Jundiai, consisting of the collection of former Federal rail network Corporation - RFSA. The Museum was opened in 1979 in Jundiai workshops who happened to be reused as well historical and cultural heritage, with the aim of being a centre of reference and preservation of industrial heritage, however, was reopened with new museum guidelines in May 1995.This study aims to identify how to formation of this bibliographic collection in order to contribute to the valuation and organizing this collection as document and rail heritage. Identifying the origin of that set, then at that time and conditions was collected in a collection, the function of the law of 1991 file in this case, if there were other preservation actions and policies that determined the composition of this collection and the general conditions of conservation and library organization. Through consultations and the analysis of documents, interviewing through a programmed script, individuals who worked at the museum at time and currently, noting and legislation on document and guard hit in practice the public and private sectors gathered data about this and other documentary collections or materials related to the rail heritage protected after the year of 1991 and finally verifying the general conditions of preservation and organization of the acquis after meeting in the library of museums of São Paulo.
