Abstract

The current process of ecosystems' degradation has become increasingly worrying due to their environmental functions and services they provide. Several methodologies attempt to analyze and measure the local ecosystem services, but are limited to analyzing only the biological characteristics, with the study of vegetation. Therefore, this project aims to identify and analyze the ecosystem services of Brotas from the integration of two models of environmental cartography: the environmental fragility, which essentially assesses the physical environment and ecosystem vulnerability that considers the biological environment through the metrics of landscape and the presence of habitats. The integration of these two models combined with multi-temporal analysis of land use and vegetation cover will allow an integrated analysis of the local ecosystem services identifying how is their relationship to human activities and the proposition of a geoenvironmental zoning directed to the sustainable regional development and ecotourism.
