Abstract

In a conventional damper, the generated force is a function of the rheological properties of the fluid, its geometrical parameters and the relative velocity. On the other hand, the rheological properties of the fluid in the magnetoreological damper depend on the electrical voltage applied to the electromagnetic circuit of the damper. One of the most important applications of MR fluid is vibration absorber, mainly used in civil construction, automotive vehicles and other mechanical systems subjected to excitations that cause undesirable vibrations. However, the force can be controlled indirectly by controlling the intensity of the electric voltage. In this way, the present work focus on developing an inverse mathematical model to determine the required electrical voltage as a function of the force to be generated in a magnetoreological damper.
