Abstract

Thermography is a non-invasive procedure, with no complications to health, and consists of the analysis of images obtained from the infrared radiation that the body emits naturally. Thus, this diagnostic method can aid in the evaluation and treatment of inflammatory and neoplastic lesions. Skin grafts are used for correction of extensive defects and consist of the insertion of a fraction of the dermis and epidermis at the distal receptor site, they are able to cover extensive lesions that would not be possible by conventional surgery. Its use is frequent in the treatment of several traumatic, neoplastic lesions. Some complications such as ischemia and necrosis occur after its application, because they do not have a vascular pedicle in their constitution. Thus, the use of angiogenesis stimulators can prevent such complications, and therapeutic ultrasound (UST) is seen as a new treatment modality for this purpose. UST is a method of using sound energy that can be used in tissue recovery at the cellular level, promoting tissue repair. Thus, the purpose of this study was to analyze, with the use of thermography, how therapeutic ultrasound can aid in tissue repair after the excision of neoplasia induced by 7,12-dimethylbenzanthracene (DMBA).
