Abstract

Wood is widely used in Brazilian civil construction, whether as cladding, roof structures, anchors or concrete forms, but it is still little used as structural element. In addition to being considered one of the most viable materials for the sector, considering the environmental sustainability, wood can also be industrialized, especially with the use of numerical control equipment. The digital tools can help with the development of components that encourage the use of the material as a structural element, along with Digital Fabrication equipment. However, it is possible to observe that there are few initiatives in Brazil that appropriate the digital technologies associated with wood construction, highlighting the Wikihouses developed by UFRJ and Mackenzie. The objective of the research is to act precisely in this gap, in order to develop a new adaptable joint model, using CAD and CAM tools and algorithmic systems. To make this possible, it will be necessary to study the most commonly used joint models, analyze the Numerical Control Equipment Park for wood applications in the country, fulfill an immersion stage in a wood cutting industry to understand the processes, the use of digital technologies, the development of prototypes and the fabrication of the component in a 1:1 scale in the industry. The result can be evaluated in a qualitative way by specialists in the area and it is expected that the connections developed have an innovative aspect, with the potential to be patented, improving the industrial character of the construction with wooden structures.
