The Araguaia Orogen represents part of the amalgamation history of the Gondwana Supercontinent during the late Neoproterozoic. The metasedimentary sequences record the tectonic history of the development and formation of this geotectonic unit. However, tectono-metamorphic studies performed in these sequences are rare and the existing works have a regional character. This scientific initiation project intends, in this context, to fill some of this gap by developing detailed tectonometamorphic studies in two cross sections of the Xambioá Formation, near the homonymous city. The studies will focus on obtaining P-T-d trajectories for the studied rocks in order to critically evaluate existing tectonic models for the region and thus contribute to a better understanding of the tectonic evolution of the Araguaia Orogen.
