Abstract

The advent of the new technologies and the incorporation of electronic devices by music brought back the relation between the gesture and the physicality of the performer and its apprehension by the spectator public. Moreover, it can be said that from the twentieth century beyond, music becomes more and more interested in the corporeality of musicians and the materiality of musical instruments, enjoying these encounters to explore their sonic and compositional possibilities. Reflecting on possible relations with the notions of gesture and physicality, this research is interested in electric guitar in its procedures of use, instrumental performance and process of creation in diverse productions of guitarists and /or composers related to what has been denominated as experimental music. It is based on an approach that chooses to cast a close look at the specifics of each artist, not seeking a methodology that encompasses the observed similarities between practices, but in what is most singular in each one's work.
