Abstract

This study intends to evaluate in vitro if the drugs Alisquirene, Losartan and Punica granatum, that interfere in the renin-angiotensin system, also present antimicrobial action against biofilms of Candida albicans, and alter the viability of human gingival fibroblasts (HGF). Antimicrobial analysis will be performed by means of XTT reduction reduction assay, allowing the determination of the level of metabolic activity of viable cells and, finally, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). The cytotoxicity of the different drugs on HGF will be evaluated by means of fluorescein diacetate and Alarmar Blue. With this proposal, we intend to make possible in the future the idea of associating antifungal drugs with the resilient materials used on the inner surface of removable dental prostheses, since it functions as a reservoir of microorganisms, mainly Candida albicans, which is strongly involved with the pathogenesis of Denture Stomatitis.
