Abstract

So far, we have studied at a good level of depth the adaptation of yeast to hemicellulosic hydrolysate, the effect of the inhibitors present in this hydrolysate, supplementation of the culture medium with salts, and the separation of the cells from the fermented broth by flotation. All these cultivation studies were carried out in agitated Erlenmeyer flasks. An experiment in a single condition of cultivation in a bioreactor with the addition of glycerol allowed for values of lipid content much higher than those achieved in flasks, from 34 to 56%. Thus, this IC research aims the study the effect of crude glycerol addition to the hemicellulosic hydrolysate on growth kinetics and oil production. This study will be the basis for the study in bioreactor to be performed by a postdoctoral researcher. (AU)
