Abstract

This project of Scientific Initiation seeks to identify the daily habits of consumption of journalistic information on politics among the university students from Bauru. In order to delimit the object, the definition of the Youth PEC approved in 2010 and the Youth Statute sanctioned in 2013 were used, which classify as young people in Brazil, every citizen inserted between the ages of 15 to 29 years of age. The changes that occurred in almost two decades stimulated the development of new forms of communication and digital consumption of all types of information, a scenario that reflected, above all, the general change in patterns and habits of production, diffusion, consumption and collective cultural behavior. Bauru was chosen to be the research site, due to its geographic location in the center of the state, which contributes to gather a significant number of middle-class students in the 5 universities and 5 faculties in the city. The methodologies used to meet the defined objectives will be electronic questionnaire, as quantitative method, and focal group, as qualitative method. In this way, we intend to identify which are the most used communication vehicles for Bauru's youngsters as sources of information, based on the analysis of the variables of gender, age group and family income. The consequences generated by the consumption of information on digital devices and the ways in which the journalistic information obtained from such online resources are used and appropriated will also be identified.
