Abstract

A dentifrice containing calcium silicate and sodium phosphate salts was developed with the intention of regenerating the enamel with the same mineral that forms it, besides acting on the initial and invisible levels of erosion. The objective of this work will be to evaluate the potential remineralization of dentifrices with different compositions and concentrations of fluoride. We will use blocks obtained from vestibular surfaces of deciduous incisors (n = 48), which will be planned and polished with sandpaper of different granulations. After that, the Initial Surface Microhardness (SH0) will be performed, to standardize the mineral content of the specimens used. Then, erosion injury induction will be performed, where the blocks will be immersed in a 0.5% (pH 2.5) citric acid demineralizer solution for 5 minutes (not shaken), 4 times a day at 8:00 , 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., for 5 days. After the first hour of the first day of injury induction, the Microhardness after erosion injury induction (SH1) will be performed, in order to verify the demineralized surface of the blocks. After this procedure, the blocks will be submitted to treatments with experimental dentifrices, according to the groups described below: 1) Placebo (negative control), 2) 1100 ppm F (positive control), 3) Colgate Total 12, 4) Regenerate Enamel Science (Table 1). The blocks will be treated in a 1: 3 ratio slurry within a remineralization cycle, which will take place immediately after each induction of injury. After these procedures will be performed the final Microhardness (SH2), the Scanning Electron Microscopy and the Microfluorescence of X-ray by Dispersive Energy (¼EDX) of the treated blocks. The data will be submitted to statistical analysis for data conflict with significance level of 5%. (AU)
