Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus is one of the microorganisms involved with food-borne diseases (FBD), mainly associated to the consumption of manually processed and prepared food. The intoxication related with the presence of S. aureus involves the production of staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs), more specifically of type A, one of the 20 types produced by this bacterium. Once the methods of SEs' detection demand time, specificity and pre-sample treatments, which can be a barrier to fast and effectiveness diagnostics, the development of electrochemical immunosensors based on carbon materials such as nanotubes and graphene are promising. Due to it, this exchange research project aims to evaluate the immobilization of the antibody anti-SEA in reduced oxide graphene (rGO) obtained from graphene synthesized by CVD method with different substances; then, compare the results with the data obtained during the research made in Brazil to develop the most effectiveness, sensitive and accurate immunosensor ever built to detect this type of enterotoxin.
